Voice Control

I was wondering if anyone in Australia could tell me if the Tiguan RNS510 has Voice Control (ie dialing, recalling phone book etc) when combined with the Bluetooth option?

Not standard no. You can take the risk and update the firmware to 2660 on thr RNS510 which gives it voice control capability, and you would then need to run the mic to the stereo instead of the bluetooth unit, with a new cable from stereo to Bluetooth to pass on mic function. Works well, I've done it on mine, but quite a big job.

Hi Swallowtail, I will get my new Tigga in about 3 weeks. I also opted for the RNS510. Intersting to hear that you have updated your Firmware and have Voice controll working. Would you be be able to give me directions on installation of the Firmware and cables when the time comes? I have been in contact with the Dealer and he didn't even know there is a new Firmware. Should I make it madatory for the dealer to update the Firmware free of charge before I take delivery or at least give it to me in writing once the firmware does become available they do it free of charge? What are your thoughts? I have the CD with the new Firmware here. I downloaded it from the "mygti" website.

My Tig is coming in early Feb 2010. I'm under the impression that it will have voice control. I'll have to double check.

My understanding is that if its fitted in the factory YES
but if its added by the dealer in OZ, they are not having any success with voice control

Hmmm interesting! I assume that the voice control firmware will eventually find its way here in production vehicles. It'll be interesting to see when.

The voice control works brilliantly - well worth it.

Just had a phone conversation with the Solitaire Sales Manager here in SA. He knows about this update but says that VW Australia has currently no plans to include this version of the RNS-510. This is possibly due to them trying to keep the cost down. It could come here in the future but not in the foreeseable.
