This article was linked on VWVortex and I'm sure they wouldn't mind a few more Tiguan owners seeing how tough these little beasts really are. They may not be the cheapest out there but when push comes to shove I know which vehicle I'd rather be sitting in !!!

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I saw this on Vortex too.
Hit from behind at 80mph and rolled 6 times, owner only had minor cuts and bruises.
Says a lot for the 5 star crash rating

Impressive! Safety was a big selling point for me after seeing the YouTube video's of crash tests:
NCAP front-on crash tests:
Roof strehngth test (15000 pounds of force resulted in only 2 inches movement!):
Not safety, but check the Tiguan test track outing:
sigpic

Avg 7.63L/100km over 189,000kms

Safety is a big selling feature for me too.
My current vehicle has no airbags, and i do sit level with the front of other cars so i would be in the main impact zone.
The tig has all the safety requirements i could ask for plus the added height will mean less head/upper body damage in a crash (hopefully)

Alot of people often shop around for cars and base their search on price alone. One of the things we looked at is the safety aspect, given the Mrs will be driving it mostly and dropping the kids to school etc...
Hope the driver went and got a Lotto ticket anyway!!!!!!!2010 Candy White TDI Auto, black leather, bi-Xenons + fogs, DVD plus other gadgets and gizmos to keep the kids quiet!
