Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Wheel rim specs

If anyone knows the specs of the OEM wheel rims could they please post them? Thus far I only know the 16" specs which are 16x6.5" ET33, 5x112 PCD

Also, if you have specific non-OEM rims fitted (so know they'll be fine on the Tig) please can you post their details?

    Thanks a million.

I have 18x8 ET42 running 235/50/18. ET35 would be much better IMO, fill the guards out a bit nicer. You could probably get away with ET30 in that width too and would look tuff as.

WOW! Thanks for the quick detailed replies. I've added detail to the caresheet and linked this thread.

Just on the topic, do you guys know whether 235/60 would fit the standard 16" rims, or would that be pushing things?

235/60/16 should work if OEM is 215/65/16. Here is a handy little link:

My wheel plans for next summer include 18x9.5" ET33 or 18x8.5" ET35 wheels with 255/45/18 tires. Might go with the 9.5" wide wheels.

245/40/19 with ET42 (I think, from memory). Should be no problems when I finally get the springs fitted
