Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Not a fan of the colour, but can appreciate the work that went into getting such a professional finish. Always wonder how the airbags work in a changeover like this?

wheel spec is 18x8.5 +45. there is a 1/2 finger gap to the shock strut which should be fine to use with 235 50 18.

        oem 18" spec is 18x7 +43.

        245 40 18 which is 5% smaller than OEM tyre diameter 235 55 17 / 235 50 18.

i know! i could use the gap as a storage or something

having said that, even on OEM tyre size, my Tiguan seems to sit higher than most other Tiguans for some reason...

                • Hi Guys, Thought I would post my Tiguan up.
I have only just got it a couple of months ago, so still working on all the mods at the moment.
Got my 20inch rims on the weekend. Ride quality is still fine by me

                  • Wow, 20's!! They look pretty good, what are the other stat's? (offset/width/tyre size)? The rear looks like it could 'poke' a little more, but i likey the style! Anthracite?

                    • I like them too. When I read the OP's comment in the thread subscription e-mail without the having a photo for reference, I was a concerned they might look out of proportion - but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised when I visited the site and saw the picture. I'd like to see a few more pics, including a side on view please. That low a profile tyre is not suitable for my situation at all, but based on this one I'd suggest more people driving Tigs in the city should consider a 20" wheels.

                            • Looks great. Just the rims and grill, or is the nudge bar dipped too? What's that black decal near the A-pillar and what tyres are you running - they look chunkier than the Turanzas on mine?

                              • It's an R line badge, one of the many (nudge bar) presents from the previous owner.

They are 235 potenzas getting a little low now but I prefer them to 'give' than clutch

Not sure what to do about the nudge maybe black with LED bar underslung to match, cbf pulling it off though, grill was sprayed on the car.
