Seems like the usual RRP less the dealer/on road costs deal that's happening.
Would an offer of $43,000 be unreasonable?

I went through a tour of the Golf/Tiguan plant today. they have a "team" special value pack that has fogs, front and rear park sensors, MDI and most of the comfort pack thrown in on the base model, as well as larger alloys. Here's hoping it comes here too!
The R-Line was there, though the difference was disappointing - basically the grey lower lip of front an rear bumpers were colour coded, and there was a chrome side strip applied to the lower edge of the doors. Wouldn't pay extra for that.

You lucky bugger, i can't wait to do the Wolfsburg tour if/when i get to Germany.
Unfortunately all the other countries seem to get these "option packs" and we get slugged with having to pay extra for everything.
It's good though in the way that you can choose exactly what you want on your car.

I agree that the R-Line isn't that fantastic a piece of kit.
The coloured plastics look good but apart from that not worth the extra.
I think it comes with leather?

Half the fun is driving at 180 on the way to the plant
R-Line came with different patterned cloth, but punched and stitched leather on the steering wheel

From what I have read on this forum and my own personal expericence dealing with VW dealers, I would be looking for at least 12% discount off their quoted prices. So offer them $40,600 and see how you go, remember to try at least 3 different dealers and be prepare to walk out of the dealer if they say NO, good luck.

went to a couple of dealers.. they pretty much laughed off the idea of more discounts on top of what they're offering of free dealer delivery, stamp duty etc.. One said he could only round off to $46,000.
He even said he'll bet on his job that no one can offer anywhere near even 5% further discount!
Is it just Sydney dealers? Where did u guys get these deals?

Mate you will get that alot, they always try and tell you it's below their cost price and there is no way they will sell it to you for that price.
I even had some dealer manager swing their computer monitor towards me, showing me their cost price (which I dont believe it the real price). The price I paid according to their computer screen, they are losing over $1000, and they still willing to sell it to me.
Give them your credit card and tell them the price you are willing to pay, you will have a better chance than just making them an offer. Show them you are ready to buy NOW.

Ah..my bad, I thought the $46,000 were the rrp for his quote, which I now reliased it isnt and that's how I come up with the price of $40,600.

Dealer said rrp was around $48000, but I beleive this was an inflated price. He said they'd do it for $43500 without any negotiation, ended up talking them down to $41000. Seemed like an ok price.
