  • Thanks MGV

So I'm looking at a Candy White auto Pacific.
    Extras SatNav and Bi-Xenon lights

Went to the dealer today to get some price info. Turns out they had the exact car in stock at the airport.
Ended up putting in an offer of $42,000 which was denied by the manager. They hinted that 43k was the mark.
I left it at that and said I would think about it.

Should I be holding off at $42k, maybe trying other dealers or just offer the $43?

    • I placed an order for mine a couple of weeks ago.. (this is in Melb)

      Candy White 132TSI Auto Pacific.
Lol, unfortunately no exact car in the airport for my case.

I got it down to 38.5k or so on road, with floor mats, mudguards, tinting, thrown in.

I wanted the Bi-Xenon's as well .. which would have made that 40.5k. (they are a 2k option) I don't know what the satnav option is though. The sun-roof is a 2k option as well.

In the end I opted for the panoramic sunroof and rounded down to 40k on road. (figured it I could add the bi-xenons later, but a factory fitted panaromic sunroof is better done now than later)

The dealer was willing to be aggressive in price as there is a dire shortage of 132tsi tigs. Hard to sell cars that they don't have and not many buyers will wait. I told him I didn't care when the car came. (it will be a factory order of course). At first it was estimated to be March. Then it became Late Jan/Early Feb. Just had an update that it might be in-country by mid Dec, which would mean early to mid Jan before i get it.

I'm not too sure about the satnav .. that would mean the touchscreen too wouldn't it? But dollar for dollar, it would be a 3k diff if i compared it to my purchase. and again I dunno what the option price is for satnav.

      • just to give you a idea of retro fitting those parts. the RNS510 LED version will set you back around $1kAUD (easy to code your self and install). the bi-xenon is a different beast, if you want the AFS with headlight jet installed your looking to spend around $1400 just on parts. i got my headlight parts with AFS kit for around $1100AUD. at this stage the labor cost if you get some one to do it for you will prob cost around $800+. i would buy the bi-xenons factory if they had it.

If you want to do the illegal way of not having AFS/jet a $30 10pin to 14pin adapter will do it for ya +$700ish headlights and VCDS coding

ps. not another candy white tiguan on the road...they are like so generic and boring jk.

        • Yup, I pretty much said the Bi-xenons were a 2k option. Factory slightly cheaper, I know VW quotes 2k as option and 2.5k if u do it later?

All the cars I've ever owned are white. And Candy white doesn't cost extra. I like to start with a clean white slate.

Haha yeah, but I really like the VW Candy White. I also don't like my cars to stand out a lot.

I would prefer to not have to fit anything myself. I got an email from the dealer this morning, looks like they are waiting for me to come back with another offer for the car. Decisions decisions.

            • What else is thrown in? Actually 43k isn't bad depending on what else in in. e.g. tinting, floor mats, mudguards, and those for the boot too. They all add up. I think tints are like $700.

Go there with your checkbook or cash for deposit. $1k will do (or $500). I dunno about your dealer, but mine reacted straightaway.
Tell him you'll meet him halfway .. checkbook all ready to plonk down, etc. bird in the hand better than one in a factory in germany waiting the order to assemble. If someone else sells that tig at the dock, he loses out.
              Cheers, Abuthen.

It all depends who is fitting it. if your doing it your self then it comes out at least $500 cheaper, if you get some one else to do it then it could be more expensive.

We only have the boot liner in as an accessory. I wasn't too concern with those as I could get them later and thought that might help get the car through at $42k. I wonder if its worth going back and asking for all that at $43k.

You can pretty much ask for what you want now that the dealer has got back to you first. I would bundle in tints, mats and mud flaps for $43k and then sit firm. Cost price for the bits is around $500 which would meet your original offer and the dealer half way.

Yes and wave your visa card under their nose to take a deposit. I'd be very surprised if they didn't take it.

White cars with dark tint always look good.

If you don't want the bits you could try offering $42.5k but I think you're more likely to get it over the line by adding a couple of lower value options (that you would have put on anyway).

                    • Got another email today. I might reply and let them know I'm still interested.
If I don't hear anything back then will probably offer the extra money but with the tints/mats/mud flaps/boot tub/ and a ready deposit.

                        • Hi all

Found this thread was great for figuring what to offer for the Tig we just bought (currently on a boat somewhere to Oz). Heres what we got:

132tsi Pacific with usual comfort pack and other bits, sunroof, black, manual, tints, carpet mats, boot mat, drive away... $37.5k.

OH and I are still debating the pros/cons of 18" wheels... I'm keen

                          Comment

                          • 18" wheels should be okay for comfort, i would't go any bigger though.
Best bet is to hit up some aftermarket suppliers, i know rotiform is having a 50% off sale for black friday.

Not a heap. There's upsized alloys, upgraded seats, chrome trims around the windows/roof rails, upgraded stereo and of course the 155kW tune instead of 132kW on the same engine. Peak power is up in the 155 but torque figures are the same. Plus if you want DSG you either have to go diesel or the 155 at the moment.

Given that VW are throwing in the comfort pack in the "Pacific" it does make the 2 packages a lot closer in spec and makes the 132 pretty good value.
