    Hi Stig

Duly noted regarding the VIN, thanks.

The question I posed was in relation to the actual time from placing an order to receiving the actual car. Delivery bordering on half a year seems excessive. You would think VW being a large volume car manufacturer, that they'd have a streamlined process implemented.

    Any takers?

If you have the VIN you can see where your car is - see the Sticky thread !

My car was on the Torrens and was discharged in Fremantle on the 8/3/12. Must be on the way to the East next...

    Hey Blue

Dealer told me there was a shipment arriving in two months. Alas, no car with the specs I ordered.

Does anyone have any insight as too why it takes VW Oz 5+ months to deliver a vehicle to a customer? I've previously custom ordered a Merc and it took approx. 3 months. Five months seems an inordinate amount of time.

Was told by the dealer that the car is being built in week 18, and take 10 weeks for delivery so it would be some time in August?

Yep, if you look back the last few pages of this thread you will see that there are a number of us waiting on this shipment for our cars. Personally, I'm waiting on a standard 155TSI in blue after being told they couldn't source one from anywhere in the country.

A couple of weeks ago we were all told six weeks, so basically I am hoping to have my car mid to late April. I don't believe anyone has been provided any specific dates yet. I anyone else has, I would be also pleased to hear!

    Hi Doggie

I wouldn't be too phased about it. There'll always be someone with a better deal. I'm sure someone will post next week/month of an even better deal. Just enjoy your purchase (once it arrives). I've learnt not to sweat those details.

    Cheers

    Greetings from Melbourne

Just a did a deal and thought I would share.

    Tiguan MY 12 155TSI
    Mats
Metallic paint - Deep black pearl effect
RNS510 Sat Nav with RVC Plus
    Park Assist
    Bi-Xenon with cornering lights
Leather upholstery frnt sprts & elec drivers seat

As per the dealers price list $58220 without mats
Per the dealers calculations, it came to $58883. They must be special mats!!!!
Anyways, done the deal of 51K flat, drive away, or if I choose to pay for the vehicle with my Amex card, it would be $52100.

Only problem is, is that there is no vehicle with those specs. It has to be custom ordered which results in a circa 5 month delay!! Really, 5 months. Is this a supply/demand problem, i.e., the Tiguan is overwhelmingly popular and supply cannot keep up, or is it something else?

BTW, I had a good (so far) buying experience. Salesperson was nice and affable, not pushy. All in all, I'm quite happy. I'm sure if I'd gone to another 1or 2 dealers I would've received a better price, but hey, I'm happy with it.

As an aside, I loved putting the gear selector into "S", it really makes the car go from ho-hum to a nasty little SUV. Very impressed. Now for the long arduous wait.
