Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Wiring to powered seat (2015 R-line)

    Hi All - appreciate any help on this one

    A wire has broken off to one of the motors under my drivers seat (the one that moves the seat forwards or backwards). I've unplugged the cable loom from the cable connector in the motor and, looking closer, it seems the wire has snapped off right behind the plug on the end of the wiring loom. So I am looking at 2 different options to solve;

    1. Can you just buy another plug and re-wire the cables in there? I tried finding the part number but no luck - if anyone knows where I can find or get this that would be great
    2. Can I just re-use this connector by de-pinning it? Never done it before but found a few vids on youtube - i might just have to order some de-pinning tools

    Lastly, I am going to unbolt and take the seat out so that everything is easier to do. The problem obviously is that I cannot move the seat to get to the bolts because of said broken wire to the motor that adjusts the seat forward and back.

    • Anyone know how to adjust the seat manually so I can access the bolts and remove the seat?

    Thanks for anyone's help
