Boot constantly wanting to open

Hi all. Have a real head scratcher. My boot refuses to engage when shutting. The moment the trigger engages, it disengages. Have replaced both the lock and the hand actuator but the problem persists.
Just happened suddenly one day when I opened the boot then tried to close it. Has been to a workshop that services VW’s and no fault could be detected.
