Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Bluetooth on a 2011 tiguan

So I just joined the club with a 2011 Tig that has only done 70,000. Somewhat stupidly I didn't check if it had Bluetooth and just assumed it did. It has the rcd 510. What do I need to do/buy to activate Bluetooth. Depending on cost I'll either buy the modules needed or just plug a USB adaptor into the aux port. It's only for music and podcasts while I drive. Don't need actual phone functionality.

Genuine Volkswagen 9W7 Bluetooth Premium Retrofit kit OEM 7P6035730 - AA Auto Parts

Its a kit that should be plug VCDS code and play. The foam holder is velcro'd to the carpet under drivers seat. The carpet cutouts for the cables are already there. Mic goes along the RH A pillar to the console above the mirror. There should be a slot ready for that. Then you have coding to do.

I got mine 6 years ago from www.carsystems.eu.

There are two levels of Bluetooth you can get. hi and low. High (9W7) gives you bluetooth audio streaming and steering wheel controls.
