  • Wider tyres for 2013 Tiguan

    Hello everyone.

I’ve got a 2013 Tiguan diesel - I purchased it new. It’s due for new tyres.

The vehicle has 215 tyres on it and I would like to install wider tyres - say 235.

Has anyone upgraded to wider tyres on the Tiguan?

    Any assistance would be appreciated.

It depends what width wheels you are running as to the maximum tyre width that is recommended to run.

Take a look here as a good general recommendation: Tire widths for a wheel/rim size chart - Equivalency table

You'd need at least a 7.5" width rim to run a 235. I suspect you may be running a 16x6.5 or 17x6.5 so 215 is already at the maximum width recommended. If you want to go wider you really need to change wheels - ideally to an 8-8.5" width.

No problem hopefully it makes sense. You can check your wheel size by looking at the specs on the back-side of the spokes. Either stick a camera in behind of if you find that's too hard just take a wheel off and take a good look.
