I have the 2015 model Tiguan with the 130KW diesel engine ,I dont drive it that much as i maily drive my Navara Ute around safer in car parks,
Its only done just over 14,000 and maily on long trips the Average is 6.5 litres per 100 km
Hey all. Thought id share my experience. New 162 Tig. 1500kms on clock. Adelaide to Melbourne. 2 adults and luggage. In eco mode no aircon. Once at my destination i completed 800kms with 80 range according to trip. Great result i think on one tank. Especially we were sitting on speed limit whole way. Better than my old 132tsi Tig.
Our first decent "out of city" drive. Left Chatswood area and stopped in Albury for lunch and filled up. For the the most part we were showing 7.6 L/100KM to 7.8 L/100KM. This is also achieved sitting on 110 KM/Hr.
On the whole, I am very impressed. Based on the above, IF we could be focused enough and drive at no more than 80 KM/Hr, I think we could get from Sydney to Melbourne on one tank of petrol. BTW, This Tiguan has the 162TSI motor.

Type in previous reply. Should be 6.6 to 6.8 L/100KM.

What fuel are you using 95 or 98? We did 380km yesterday in Sports mode, averaged 9.4l/per 100km...

Also I was using Active cruise control for virtually the whole trip.

Thought I'd re-ignite this thread. I drive the 2017 Gen2 132 TSI and live in WA. I just came back from a round trip from near Perth to Albany. Had the trip metre reset after re-fueling (ron 98 ) my car to full (63 litres inc reserves) before heading off and on the return trip I partially filled the car with ~29 litres (ron 98 ). Total mileage completed during the trip was 1122 KM with ~ 240 KM of distance remaining. I was the only occupant in the car, was mainly driving in Eco mode with ACC and was carrying about 30 - 40 KG of load.
I took a non-direct longer route to Albany and the direct shorter route from Albany. Whilst in Albany I was driving into Salmon Hole to and from my accommodation in total 3 times but also drove into town a few times.
In numerical terms that would be approximately ~14.8 KM/litre or ~ 6.75 L/100KM.
162tsi I've been averaging under 8 litres per 100km. That's some highway driving with lots of traffic lights. I got to be pretty light on the pedal and coast a lot to get that.

140tdi and currently sitting on 5.9 l/100k around Sydney, did a trip yesterday western Syd to hurstville rtn and averaged 5.1 L/100k. I can't believe how economical the 140tdi is and it's only done 1000k's. I really expected mid 6's and tbh if the cars running fine don't care how much fuel it uses.
I doubt there would be much difference between the Tiguan and Passat Alltrack when it comes to fuel economy, very similar weights.
We managed around 8.4 L / 100km on a trip to Apollo Bay the other weekend. This included a trip up to what’s left of the 12 Apostles & the lighthouse at Cape Otway. This is with around 2000km since new.
I’m running 98 in our R-Line but would consider running 95 to see if there is any difference.
