Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Hello,

My new Tiggy is specced as follows:

    MY22 Tiguan 162TSI Elegance ($47k)
    Nightshade Blue ($727)
    Sounds & Vision package ($2.2k)
    5 year service plan ($2.3k)
Tinting, interior and exterior protection coating (I told them I wanted to remove this as I only really wanted tinting, so they then dropped 1k off, so I thought fine...lol) ($1.2k)
Dealer delivery ($2.7k and I tried to negotiate but they didn't budge at all - no leverage here as they have sooo much demand)
    Rego ($450)
    Stamp Duty ($3.5k)

Driveway (inclusive of GST + all of the above) = $66,200.85

    From John Hughes Volkswagen, WA.

    • Put a deposit down on a new 2022 R-Line. Basically full priced because I know it's a sellers market and I couldn't be bothered playing the 2 or 3 hour long game of pretending to walk away whilst the sales person pretended to talk to their manager.

2022 R-Line. Nightshade Blue. Sound & Vision pack. $65250 DA.
      ETA September.... :/

        You have some photos?

        • Hi, newbie member here considering a Tiguan Allspace.

Am I stupid to consider paying $77K for a very low KM 2021 Volkswagen 162TSI Wolfsburg Edition? Or should I hold off and get a new 162TSI R-Line 2022 Allspace when stock levels return? I do love the styling of the Wolfsburg with the black rims and it still has the physical dials for air con etc.

Buy what's right for you. If you're not overspending considering your personal situation and you need the car now, then buy it I say. But consider that for that money you are a couple of grand away from a tiguan R with a possible year long wait time

            • So with dealers quoting above RRP for factory orders due in Q4 and even higher for unallocated stock/cancelled orders, the sooner the arrival the more they’re charging, plus no negotiation or fleet discounts, AND 2 recent price rises by Volkswagen….

Do we think prices will keep going up?

Will it come back to normal?

Are dealers passing on price rises when cars arrive? Ie sign for $60k now end up paying $63k in December?

              • Hi i am new to this forum and I’m considering purchasing a 2018 Black 110tsi Comfortline that include Driver Assistance package 30,000km for $33.5k + on road for my wife.

Understand the market is a bit crazy at the moment but wanted to see if i am over paying or is reasonable

                • I have read and heard from my dealer that they are putting prices up to discourage people from buying new cars at the moment. I am at $75000 for an R-line TDI with the Sound and Vision pkg, and the sun roof. All up with other options, and the service plan I am at $80000.

If you signed a contract for $60 then you pay $60. My dealer said because I signed up when I did I was protected from price rises. I think it’s going to be at least 18 months before we are back to a new kind of normal with negotiating prices. It’s going to be a real issues in 3 to 5 years time when we come to trading these cars. The depreciation is going to be a killer!

The 147TDI R Line Allspace we've ordered came to ~$73K with sunroof and sound & vision ... and paint that isn't white.

Accessories like towbar, side-steps, roof racks, rubber floor mats etc will still need to be added.

I think that is basically the MSRP/RRP anyway. You are unlikely to get any discount.
