  • Tiguan still has an EGR

I assumed that SCR would mean there was no need for an EGR but that's not right.
So EGR/cooler valve issues, including access, will remain, it seems.
The current brochure specs don't mention an emissions standard at all either, which seems odd to me

It doesn't have to mention that. I don't know any car combustion engine from 1980 without the EGR.

Is it needed for blowby gasses, combustion temperature control or both?
I thought the DEF did the job of NOx reduction.
Can we expect the same lifespan from the EGR/cooler valve and associated costs?.
