Unsure, but i found this link in my travels and it looks like we can download updates whenever we like.

I emailed my VW dealer in Sydney asking what the differences are between the MY17 & MY18 and this was the reply:

I'm assuming the 9.2" discover pro is for the highline only?

First I've heard of the ’Race’ cloth with ‘San Remo’ microfibre Dark Magnetic Grey OV seats in the rline. I wonder if they're are coming as standard to rline in Aus

Not sure if its standard for Highline only, but would assume it would be & an option for the others.
Additionally I asked the dealer if the manoeuvre, pedestrian & updated Driver Assistance could be programmed on the MY17 & he said no because the MY18 uses different/more cameras - he didnt get into it too much & not sure how true it is & if he know what he is really talking about...

Definitely Aussie maps, I pulled the 21Gb download and Australia is there as a folder. Once my car is in my hands I'll try the update.

Had dinner with a Vic dealer principal and his sales manager over the weekend. They said they are not taking new orders for Highline's at the moment because the waiting list is already out to almost 18 months. They just can't get cars because of the models popularity. I have a my16 Highline delivered in February 17 with only 6k on the odo and they offered to buy it back at the same price they sold it to me for.

I wonder of they want mine, same delivery and it has less K's on it than yours. I must admit the Tiguan does not exactly ring my bells which is a bit disappointing TBH. There is nothing wrong with it as a car but I would rather be driving something else.

Got a call from my dealer last week starting delays in production. I ordered the rline burger with the lot back in March this year. Was initially advised of a Oct delivery which is now looking at Feb next year apparently.
Hope they aren't passing my car on to others at a premium. I have seen the rlines being listed above the retail price. Just crazy demand by the sounds of it.
