I actually don’t mind them but Dutch has a “thing” with machine face wheels.Originally posted by NZ_GolfR View PostI think I’m going to have to stop reading this post as I’m starting to feel bad about like the Suzuka wheels on mine [emoji47]

Get a bit of curb rash on one and you’ll know what he’s talking about when you get the price for repairs.
I haven’t found a weight for the Suzuka, however I don’t think it’ll be that light. In terms of a “sports” model they look quite heavy/chunky. On an SUV I don’t mind this look and I think it goes with the car.
I think Dutch has an issue with the styling of the R-line - particularly the front bar treatment and wheels. But that’s personal preference and styling is never to everyone’s preference/taste.
That’s why we have so many wheels so there’s something for everyone

what size wheels can i legally and physically go DOWN to, for offroading on the gen2 tiguans. i'd like to buy some 16's(17 max) to put some AT tyres on.
mine comes with 19's, the tyre placard mentions 17's as the smallest, but i know for most cars you have a legal 2" up/down from factory fitment, which me says 15-22(as r-line has 20's- also on placard)
cheers.

You can go as smaller, however I have heard there may be issues with fitting 16" (or smaller) wheels over the brakes. I have not tried fitting anything smaller, however I would recommend test fitting on the fronts in particular to make sure you have sufficient clearance.Originally posted by Simonr23 View Postwhat size wheels can i legally and physically go DOWN to, for offroading on the gen2 tiguans. i'd like to buy some 16's(17 max) to put some AT tyres on.

Also different design wheels will have different shape on the inside so one 16" wheel may fit OK and another may clip the brake - particularly if the offset is not that aggressive.
Safest would be to pick up a set of stock 17" wheels. They do come up from time to time online.Last edited by tigger73; 21-01-2019, 09:39 PM.

Cheers Tigger. I think I’m just going to go to one of the Tyre shops and buy a suitable 17” package. I did some googling and I think you’re right about the 16’s.
Can get decent tyres in 225/65r17, which will be very similar to my 235/50r19 in circumference.

Simon suggest you talk to the guys at Volks Torque in Lonsdale (specialist VW/Audi/Skoda wrecker). I've bought wheels from them in the past when I was looking for a spare. If they don't have anything off a Tiguan also look at Passat as they will be the correct offset.Originally posted by Simonr23 View PostCheers Tigger. If I was you I'd be looking at something like these: Volkswagen Passat Alloy Wheels - 17" - 3C Model (Set of 4) | Wheels, Tyres & Rims | Gumtree Australia Morphett Vale Area - Lonsdale | 1190841021
