  • Received another update 're delivery: now pushed back to July'23, which has added a further 153 days delay in one fell swoop - to make it now 618 days since order placed/deposit paid.

I hope there's enough people with memories to treat those that are currently acting in an unscrupulous, unethical or deceptive manner when the tide eventually turns to ensure their current actions come back to bite them firmly on their collective R's

At least you've received a date, albeit a pretty terrible one. I ordered my R-Line at the very start of November 21 (286 days and counting), have not got any information whatsoever. Would I rather be fed a random made up date or told nothing at all? Both are sure to be disappointing. I'm not sure why some dealers seem to be able to give dates and others not?

What I do know is, if I ordered another car brand I would most likely have the car already. It's hardly worth considering this as I'm balls deep in this order already, every car brand has increased prices as has VW, if I ordered one now it would be $4k more expensive. If and when my order does show up, I hope to hell they don't try and make me pay extra for it.

The complete lack of transparency from VW is pretty pathetic and I suspect that the dealers have about as much clue as any of us. What really pisses me off is the magical amount of stock the dealers appear to have available to sell at an inflated price? All cancelled orders? Why would you cancel an order that was currently in the process of being built? I do sometimes wonder if some of this magical available stock is some poor persons order they have decided to sell to a person willing to pay well and above sticker price.

Unless your contract is a fixed price contract or the price adjustment clauses have been removed, expect to pay the $4k extra or even more !

It's a sellers market and all us consumers will either have to pay more or do without

          Sigh.... Just checked the contract.

"If the manufacturer increases the cost of the new vehicle to to the Dealer, the Dealer is only entitled to pass on to the Purchaser ,an increase of up to and including 5%, of the Total Factory Price of the Vehicle"

I know there are others on here who have implied their dealers weren't going to pass this extra cost on. I guess it's an argument when/if the car actually turns up. No doubt VW will increase the price again between now and the car arriving.

          • My wife received her fully-optioned Tiguan Allspace R-Line 147TDI today.

We originally ordered at the end of March, with delivery end of June. Got delayed a couple of times and arrived last week.

Was a bit of drama and we were planning to cancel the order, but all was sorted out in the end.

I just cancelled my order yesterday because I managed to pick-up a t-rock R, but my dealer had put in writing that the contract price would hold.

the dealer we originally ordered our R-Line from (in December 2021) said that if we waited to get either (a) what we ordered but missing features/options that we wanted in March 2023 or (b) exactly what we wanted with all the options probably in Sept 2023 they would have honoured the contract price... and minus a piddly amount if we took the March 2023 de-specc'd option.
If we switched to any other car that they had in stock then it would have been at 2022/23 prices (i.e. a few K more)... but they didn't have anything remotely what we wanted anyway and really didn't put any effort into working it out with the wider VW network to see if there were alternative options.

So we went to another dealer that had brand new stock of what we wanted but as it was a new contract with them we just had to wear the price increase. They literally had a new R-Line arrive the morning I called them but the original purchaser had previously cancelled their order.

In short - if you are absolutely set on getting what you want and will wait the indefinite amount of time for it you definitely should argue to your dealer they should guarantee (in writing) your original price.
If you can't wait.... my advice is call around to other dealers and see what they have in stock or on the way and if it's quick enough just pay the extra few K... I know it means more money and it's probably a bit first world problem etc but sometimes the extra cost is worth the reduction in stress and anxiety.

                • It seems the general attitude is that it's a sellers market and they have more customers than stock, so can "screw the customer" (actually inside term from the Real Estate industry).

Problem is that buyers have long memories and brand damage is slow to emerge but can last a generation...

                    • I’ve just ordered an Allspace Adventure due Nov. Pretty much paid RRP 55900.

                      There’s seemingly plenty of stock.

                      • Thought I'd add some recent news on Tiguan R's. Being told 12 months to West Melbourne. Anyone getting similar ETAs or am I being taken for a ride?

                        • I spoke to a couple of dealers about 3 weeks ago to see about changing my order from the Elegance we originally ordered to the adventure. One dealer said they were discouraging people from ordering the R and Elegance because of wait tines.

I think we were lucky though, the dealer we originally ordered with found an Elegance coming in (picking up Friday), so we have only ended up waiting 4 and a half months. Definitely someones cancelled order as we were originally told 8 months.
