  • You won't get a VIN until the car is built. You should be able to ask the dealer when your car will be handed over to production. I didn't bother asking them for a screenshot of NADCON but they were able to give me the production date. Once you get the date, add about 3-4 weeks for the build to complete, then ask the dealer if they have a VIN yet.

The sailing schedule for WA is as follows:

You'll be hoping to get on one of the quicker routes, as the slower ones take a lot longer, even though your vehicle reached the terminal earlier.

    • Just realised you're in SA, not WA!

      • What if your car is already built and already assigned to you?

When can you expect to get the VIN, tracking and any other details?

Apparently, the VW ships to Melbourne before Adelaide.

I understand there is a VW boat coming in on the 8/4 and one on the 18/4. That seems pretty close together. Is this information wrong?
Thanks for all your help guys.

Yes it's nice to have something tangible.

I sent the dealer an email on Friday and she provided the VIN.

I tried the tracking last Friday and there was nothing there yet so it must be still being built. Will try again when I get the chance.

My order was made just before Xmas and was initially given a July delivery date. That was amended to a May delivery date about 4 weeks ago.

If it's already built then the dealer will be able to look up the VIN via NADCON, just ask them for the VIN, you don't need to get a screenshot or anything.

VW don't provide any tracking details, apart from sending notifications about the status of your car via email. I have never received these though. The tracking is done using the W&W site, because the VIN is used as the cargo ID as per above.

It sounds like for Adelaide, the cars are shipped to Melbourne then transported by road to Adelaide. There are lots of vessels going to Melbourne. View the schedule here: https://www.2wglobal.com/webapps?min...ScheduleRWD%2F

Welcome news in regards to the earlier delivery date I'm sure!!

If you have the VIN, it will pop up in the tracking site in the next week or so. Pretty exiting when it does you'll then know what ship it is on, which will have an ETD listed, so you'll know when it should arrive in Port Kembla.

The tracking of the actual ship on the map doesn't really serve any purpose, other than to give you something to do while you wait

              • Great to see cars on the water heading to their respective owners. Mines still a while off unfortunately, received the NADCON info today and it's listed my car and all the options but no build date as yet. Ah well was hoping/praying for something earlier than late July, more wishful thinking than anything else.

                  • Last week, my dealer told me it was being built and hence the excitement. Ah well they're hoping for an update soon. I'll keep trawling the forums keeping an eye out for tasty morsels of info from everyone in the meantime.

                      • It looks like the general route to Australia is via the west-south coast of Africa. Mine has gone from Europe to USA, then through the Panama Canal and NZ. The vessel (Figaro) had left Auckland 2 days ago and next stop will be Brissy on 8th of March!

Yeah, that's the long way 'round! At least it will be here in 2 days! Only a few weeks to wait then.

                              • GLADBACH.....VW is currently looking for the spoke person in order to boost their sale up this year....

i got my tiguan on Sunday, it was good generally, but i dont find it much different from 132kw at all. I cant find the feeling of the pulling force like my previous A5 2.0t, eventhough they are just 7kw different.Tiguan is smooth and quiet, set up inside was nice and impressed, frankly with around 10k-15k more to own Audi Q5, it would give us a lot different in both exterior and interior. i dont really disappointed, however with the engine approximately same output i hope to find something close to and i did not. Anyway, it is a good car.
