Blank Centre Console Buttons

Does anyone know if the blank centre console buttons around the gear selector can be used for accessories like turning a light bar on and off etc? Cheers!

The blank buttons are just part of the trim, they have no function which can be utilised apart from being a base for adding your switches or buttons.

Very true Pulled one row out in the Kamiq this morning to do the S/S defeat and the two blanks are just a thin piece covering the hole and you wouldnt be able to add anything to them Not even a skerrick of a base for anything. Same on the Tiguan

Aaah damn, has anyone mounted any switches next to the headlight control dial? Or does anyone know any other places you could or have mounted switches for a nice and functional position and finish?

I want to have a lightbar on the front which is discreetly mounted sorta behind the bumper but in front of the radiator. Also want 2 small 4 led lightbars that turn on with reverse gear so I can see better with the reverse cam at night.

U just need a couple of small switches to work a relay on each set then. Might be able to drill the blanks and insert them. I havent got the Tig any more so can have a look for you. To see more reversing put foot lightly on the brake

I have seen before on other VW forums people have made their own button, backlit and all. Looked sweet. I think they used it to control the exhaust valve or something from memory. Anyway I can’t find the links but if you google vw create button blank console something might pop up. I think it was pretty involved, they laser etched the picture on the blank and all

Bad advice, relays will not control a light bar on a Mk2 Tiguan. I used one of the blanks to put in my driving light master switch.
