Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Mk2 Tiggy Rline - steering wheel replacement

    Hey crew,

My steering wheel 'volume down' button has gone really soft feeling and has stopped working. All other buttons are fine, no dash lights etc

    I have 3 options,
1)bitch at the dealer for out of warranty early life failure (not preferable incase I get the gearbox issue in future)
    2) get replacement buttons set from aliexpress circa $85 for all mfsw button set. Install myself (gulp)
    3) get another rline steering wheel and replace (easiest), found one for $150 without airbag

Can I just 'swap' the steering wheels over and put my airbag into 'new' wheel? (assuming same wheel etc) without coding etc?

Help please? What would anyone else do?

    Thanks

Edit: That $150 rline wheel is from a 2019 rline, so buttons are different 🤔🤯
