Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Paint is peeling off Both Wiper Arms

Went in for a Service and noted to them that the Paint is peeling off Both Wiper Arms.

Even though the Tiguan is still under warranty, they said its normal wear and wouldn't be covered under warranty.
    Is this correct??

Not something I would die in a ditch over. I'd remove them, prep, and give them a coat of nice satin two pack (which you can get in a rattle can these days). They were probably powder coated from the factory, and a lot of that stuff is porous - could be a reaction with an additive.
    Cheers

Is it correct that they are not covered under warranty as they are wear and tear?

I thought paint peeling is covered under warranty?

I see this normally on cars 10+ years old. Never had this happen before with paint peeling on a car 3.5 years old.

Body paint has a defined warranty doubt wiper arms would have. As said get the spraycan out only a 30 min job to sand them off and spray them. Its all these mods you have done, has upset the thermetic rhythm of the arms and caused the paint to flake.

Do you have a how-to guide to remove the wiper arm?
