Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • How Do you clear the rear sunroof drains?

Can anyone tell me if there is an easy access point, where you can clear the rear sunroof drains?
I have cleared the front drains, which is a 5 minute job, but I can not find any specific info or YouTube clips on how to do the rear sunroof drains on a 2017 Tiguan.
Any input would be appreciated, as I can not drive my Tig when it’s raining.

So what's the process then? flush some water down the drains?

Would the wire risk putting a hole in the tube

Hi Gladbach and iDiesel, I was watching a YouTube clip, of a couple of guys in New Zealand, that used thin plastic coated curtain wire and pushed it up from under the vehicle ( not a VW ) and thanks to Mr gee, I found the drains at the back, and as soon as I have the time, I will try to clear them.

I have already cleared the front drains, from the roof, but access to the rear drains from the roof, looks like you need to remove the rear sunroof glass. NOT HAPPENING.

Or you can pull the roof lining down and clear it that way. Again, NOT HAPPENING.

What really pisses me off is that I took it to a dealers in February last year and had to pay them to clear the drains, but I found out later, the a’holes only cleaned the front ones.
