What I just tap the throttle and it disengages and car doesnt even move. Did it in garage this morning and car just sat there and gradually rolled forward.

I never use auto hold as it does what you say and only use it on hills.. However none within 20km of where I live.

It's due for 2 year service so will get them to have a look along with the two recalls that are currently outstanding

The dealer wouldn't replace under warranty.
Said VW Australia knocks them back all the time.
Happy to do the replacement if I can convince VW AU that it's warranty and not driver abuse!!!
      I barely touch the button.
It automatically comes on when I shift into Park and automatically releases when I am in Drive/Reverse and start to drive off.
Left a message with VW AU Head Office on Friday afternoon.
Lets see if they ring me back...

Anyone else have a similar broken park brake button?
And any success getting it replaced under warranty?

As its cheap plastic, it is due to fail unlike a steel hand brake and therefore is the responsibility of VW

What are VW quoting to do the repair ?

If they don't replace under warranty, just go to State Consumer Affairs Tribunal where VW will do the repair before you attend. Cost ~ $70

I have another SUV where the plastic park brake broke 12 months after the warranty ended

At such a cheap price, silly VW are pushing back on the warranty repair. Are they easy to swap over ?

Delivery from China is extremely slow at the moment. Got few items on the "slow boat from china". There is a 90day delivery timelimit before you can claim non-delivery irrespective of the claimed delivery time during purchase.
Hit your local wrecker with a printout from Aliexpress and negotiate a same price for OEM item. Or fight on with VW. A switch like this shouldn't be considered a "consumable item".

                      $226 supplied & fitted.
I've rang VW AU and made a complaint and asked to escalate the warranty issue.
Let's see where this ends up before we go Tribunal.

Yeh that's ****. Just had mine replaced at CCVW yesterday. Guy made a point that they don't normally do it, and thinks it's a user problem not a manufacturing fault. I didn't say anything back, just signed the job under warranty and drove off. I do think it's definitely warranty worthy tho, EHB braking after 18months old car? Shotty longevity!

Good to know about auto hold and auto disengage. Might play with that for a little while, see if I don't feel jolts etc, best not to use the button if it's going to break again.

Just a gentle tap is enough my last cars one lasted 9 years.

Like some people pound keys on a keyboard and wonder why they break

                              Don’t know.
Just noticed it was sitting a little proud and then felt it was loose.
Then realised it had clean snapped in half.

As I said, most of the time I don’t use it as it automatically comes on/off.

I might try a different dealer and see how I go.
Its been a week since I spoke to VW HQ and heard nothing back yet!!

Well after nearly a couple months and ringing VW AU HQ 3 times and getting nowhere, I booked it into the dealer I bought it from and fixed under warranty, no questions asked!

                                Alls well again!
