I've gone one of these magnetic adaptors rather than wireless charging (so I can use android auto). About $37 off ebay or a variety of other places. Seems to charge relatively rapidly - not as fast as USB-C to USB-C fast charging, but think the VW must output at a reasonably high amp?watt? over USB-A. Blupeak USB-C Magnetic Adapter – BluPeak
Will probably make a better dock at some point. But happy enough with it that I bought a second magnetic adapter so I don't need to unplug the adapter on the phone side it to charge overnight (unfortunately they don't sell just the male cable half of the adapter - I asked Blupeak).
For me, it is a lot lot better than plugging/unplugging a cable each time. Just tilt the phone upwards to break the magnetic seal and lift out. Of course YMMV.
Oh, that's the kind I was looking for.
Anyone tried installaling??
Will this effect warranty ??

I was advised by the dealer that hardwiring a dashcam would void warranties relating to that. So based off that logic, I'd say there's a fair chance this would too.
How strict your dealer is would also play a big part.

If any after market accessories are added to your vehicle and it was proven that it has caused some problem than you could be held responsible outside of your warranty. If you have added any accessories and they didn't create a problem than you are fully covered by warranty and our national consumer rights. Just tell the dealer you will contact the ACCC if they want to muck you around.
Something like a hardwired dashcam is normally connected via a piggy back fuse which if faulty will cause the fuse to blow not the vehicle's computer to have a fit. There is no difference to using the 12v power socket if it is done by someone with the knowledge.

Have had dashcams in 3 VW for past 7 years at least and different dealers have never mentioned them adversly and even asked how I wired them in for future reference.
All of mine have been able to be removed in about 10 mins leaving no trace whatever in the vehicle
