  • MY19.5 Highline Suspension Noise

    Hi everyone,

I've had an issue with my Tig for a little while now which I initially described as "creaking" at the axles when turning. Today I found out it's actually the suspension as the car sways when turning. As I put my foot out onto the ground I heard a loud creak from the rear of the car. I continued to kind of "bounce" the car up and down and it continued to creak.

Click here for an audio clip.

I've reached out to technician from my dealership via my local VW Facebook group and he's going to show the foreman tomorrow.

Any ideas what this could be or has anyone experience the same issue?

    Thanks

Do you have Dynamic Chassis Control - DCC
If so, have you tried it on different settings - Sport, Normal, Comfort?

I have DCC but drive in Comfort all the time. I changed it over to Normal to test tonight.

The strange thing is I can't always get it to make that noise. Seems completely random as to when it wants to do it.

iDiesel, what does having DCC have to do with it? Did you even listen to the clip?

I have this. I booked it in to be fixed when I got my gear box replaced but they didn’t have time to fix it.

          Going in January.

Sometimes does it on driveways or slopes where there is camber on the road. Mostly.

Mornings don’t help. It’s really weird.

And I can’t tell if the sound is suspension, strut tower, or brake system.

Given my clicking I used to have was fixed by different oils and bearing replacement... could be anything. Can’t wait to have it fixed though.

Did they identify it as a known fault or at least isolate what the issue was?

I have a similar issue / creaking when entering my driveway but I have a comfortline so no DCC.

I mentioned it last service and they greased some suspension parts apparently.

It hasn’t fixed the issue and it now occurs when I go over speed humps as well. I have mine booked I for service again in January.

Just seeing if it happens regardless of the suspension setting

Yeah mine has no chassis control either and does it.

I've got my car back today.

                          Issue I had:
                          - squeaking noise from suspension, when going over speedbumps at low speed.
                          - rocking the car by hand/bouncing up down stationary car would cause suspension to squeak.

took it to VW service, they re-lubricated suspension bushings, re-tension bolts on the suspension system.
                          checked all OK.

Squeak noise while driving is now gone.

While stationery however, the car would still squeak if rocked by hand (or bouncing up/down like OP).
Squeak only happens when the handbrake is engaged. No squeak with handbrake off.

VW technician shows me other Tiguan R-Line making similar noise/behaviour while stationery.

Thanks for the update. Glad you had a satisfactory outcome. I'll be taking mine in soon so will post my experience in time.
