  • Vw is replacing my tiguan 2017 after 2 year for free

    Hi
I have a strange post and wanted to see if this has happened to anyone else
I bought my new tig in 2017 and few months in gearbox has failed, it took a long time to have it fixed by vw and at a time i wrote and asked for a replacement car but soon after they replaced the gearbox and that was it
Now 2 years later I get a call advising they should have replaced my car then but are doing it now???

has anyone ever had something similar happen?

I am also interested in this , as having also issues with DSG and Gear bevel box and some other issues connected with drivetrain since car I received new .
Asked numerous time VW Head office for replacement Gearbox and bevel box or car to be replaced as I had enough mocking around with issue for last 2 years .VW don't want to change even gearbox with new ,very arrogant and ignorant just buying time and waiting I give up and VW warranty to expire . Now booked again for service , if they don't replace gearbox and gear bevel box this time I will take case with all documented evidence to court and ask for only new car replacement only .

I am also interested in this, as you guys saw on in the Tiguan Australia FB page, I've unlocked a new CEL lol... I had a gearbox malfunction come up.

But after letting the car cool down, it's now gone.

There is a definate defect within the DQ500 on Tiguan which VW are not disclosing. Only now that many are out in the field is this problem becoming more evident.

My wife and I have been legally fighting VW in the UK since August 2017 and continue to do so, VW are really trying to avoid this DSG issue coming out as it will result in a recall and £millions in compensation being paid out.

My wifes Tiguan R-Line has not been driven for over 2 years whilst our dispute with VW ensues......the legal fight continues!!

Had my gearbox replaced.. car is so much smoother and nicer to drive with respect to power and gear changes.

It's still omitting some real loud creaking and groaning when putting load on the car diagnally like when coming out or into a driveway.

Feels like sound is coming from the struts or maybe the CVs but CVs are apparently ok.

Mine was a 17 as well

The OP has made two posts, one to introduce himself then this one to which he has not replied despite visiting the forum since. I'm pretty sceptical to be honest, happy to be proven wrong but there's not much evidence to support the story at this point.

Sounds like rubbish. Dealer call you 2 years later to day you're getting after car. Ok.

Interested to know if this is true. I had a 2018 Rline, aka "The Lemon". Major gearbox issues- still unresolved, 4motion issue- (apparently loud crunching and rattling noises are normal), failed/leaking cooling system which immobilized the car- all in the first 6 months. Tried for a replacement with VWG and Dept Fair Trading and had no luck. Australian laws are too weak to protect the consumer.

FWIW, Ford replaced my Focus RS at 3yrs/40,000km after, say, 10 failed attempts to repair an engine oil leak initated when they replaced the incorrectly fitted Mustang head gasket. Repair attempts included complete redo of head gasket job. Cited ACCC Major failure - repair/replace at customer preference. Claim not contested at all. No (direct) cost to me. Delivered with 5yrs warranty, upgraded Performance Pack wheels/tyres, 12mths rego & full tank of petrol. Will have to refit window tint, driving lights at my cost. Quid pro quo - I accept without complaint.

I continue to hear of other manufacturers replacing faulty vehicles in good faith. In my extensive research I can only find a few examples of VW replacing vehicles where they were deemed unsafe or immobilised- usually after legal input. I seeked some independent legal advice- provided the vehicle is 'fit for purpose' i.e. its starts and you can drive it then the manufacturer has no obligation to replace regardless of ongoing mechanical issues. They tie you up in long service wait times and poor communication until you either give up, warranty passes or you dispose the vehicle. In my view- from what i can see- if VW replaced all faulty vehicles they would go out of business. I struggle to find many people who havent had at least some form of issue with their VW.
