  • Skipping Wipers on a New(ish) Tiguan

Just had a decent run of heavy rain these last few days, and I’m noticing the wipers skipping - mainly at the peak of the wipe.

My windscreen has been ceramic coated earlier this year, and I have thoroughly cleaned both my windscreen and wiper blades with glass cleaner (basically isopropyl alcohol).

The skipping doesn’t happen immediately, but after a few wiping cycles, it starts to skip really loudly.

I did some research online, some suggest the angle of the rubber blade isn’t set right, or it’s old. My Tiguan is 8 months old, and wipers have been used probably 6 times, so it’s definitely not age.

Anyone else experience this or have any ideas to solve?

Are you cleaning the windscreen according to the ceramic coat guide?
I've not looked into this field of ceramic coating yet, but assuming it's the same as what is applied to the paint then wouldn't a glass cleaner be an abrasive and could possibly be eating away your coating?

I would also go so far as to suggest you're ageing your wipers by cleaning them with the same solution too.

I use Duragloss glass cleaner and once a year or so I take a clay bar to my windscreen. The wipers I clean during a car wash by pinching the blade and running the micro fibre wash mitt down the length and let it air dry.
I still see skipping occasionally, typically when the car isn't washed for an extended time and wiper use is fairly constant.

I had the same thing with my 2015 Tiguan ,they found that the wiper arms were not sitting square to the windscreen , they just twisted the arm to the right position .

Got a good chance to give the wipers a workout over the last few days and definitely not having this issue
Has it only just started this last time you have needed to use them, or consistently been there from the start?
