Automatic braking when backing up with a trailer!!
Automatic braking when backing up with a trailer!!
Just got my new trailer. I had installed a hitch and wiring kit. One big problem -- I can't back up with the trailer attached. After just a few feet the brakes slam on by themselves. I thought turning off rear traffic assist was supposed to prevent this.

Mamba Ebike to replace Tiguan
Turn off the rear beepers. On my screen there is a touchscreen icon on the left side of the screen, when in reverse. Touching it turns off the beepers and the auto-braking.
If you have genuine tower kit, it should automatically detect that you have a trailer plugged in, and should disable the rear cross traffic alert, and blindspot monitoring.
If it's not picking this up, then as suggested you can disable this either through the menu or just using the icon on the touchscreen when reversing - though this last option only disables it for that use. As soon as you take it out of reverse and then put it back in again, you'll have to disable again.
