  • ACC/Cruise Control Not Engaging

    Hello Everyone,

I have a 2018 Tiguan 162 Highline and today my cruise control stopped working.

I can use the buttons on the left to select a speed however when i hit "Res" or "Set" the speed does not illuminate. The vehicle is not throwing any errors at me and the "Speed Limiter" function works fine. The car is also showing that it is detecting cars and lanes around me when i drive so i do not believe it is a sensor issue. Front assist is also working perfectly.

Any ideas? Is there a way to reset the Cruise Control?

    Thanks in advance

At the end of the indicator stalk there’s a button which controls whether ACC/lane assist etc is turned on or off. Not sure if cruise control is in that list, but might be worth checking to see if it’s turned off (unchecked)

There are no buttons on the ends of the stalks in my R line

Sequence is press top r button to turn ACC on get up to speed and hit set if you have to brake you then need to hit res

When you hit The ACC button (T/R) the distance in bottom right of the AID changes to the ACC sign with the speed you are doing You adjust to what you want and hit set

Lane assist is set from the Media menu

There are definitely buttons at the end of the stalks, maybe the 2019 model doesn't have it? Seems a bit weird though.

The ACC is not an option in that though.

Also, I know how to engage my ACC. I have been driving the car for the past 6 months without issue, it is just recently that it is not engaging. Hence wondering if there is a way to reset the system.

        Thanks again

I have 2018 R-Line Allspace and the stalk on the LHS has a button (not obvious) on the end.
This is a shortcut to Driver assist systems (Lane assist, Blindspot, etc)
When you press it, you should see something like this

The other thing to make sure is that you have the ACC on.
On the LHS of the wheel, there is a Mode button
This toggles between ACC and Speed Limiter
Make sure you have it set to ACC
And then make sure the button above is switched on to make ACC or Speed Limiter active

The button is there but you might not think it is. Press it and a menu as shown above appears on the screen. I had the same issue was not aware it was there or the quick access driver assist menu was available in such a way.

Not on mine its not There is a blank end with a fine ridge across it and nothing to push at all I can scroll through the menu in the AID using the silver ones on the right side of the wheel to get assist systems and cant change into speed limiter. The assist menu is rather different from the pics as well.

That does go against the advertised features. If you have DAP, you’re meant to have the button on the end of the indicator stalk. But I’m not surprised- it’s vw, after all. Quality control isn’t in their vocabulary.

The latest model has all the controls for ACC on the steering wheel. Not on the stalks.

Are you saying "speed limiter" function as you can't get out of that mode?

The ACC controls have always been on the wheel and if the button is not on the end of the trafficator arm take it back and get a new car.

Read post 6, it goes into the driver assist system menu. How do you get into that now?

Hillbilly is right, all the adjustments can still be made, just a different sequence of events to get to them.

Why the hell vw mess with things like this, does my head in. Stop being cheap.

None of us are always right and you are not in this case

                              CAR
TIGUAN162 RLINE with DAP and SOUND PACKAGE
DOES NOT HAVE BUTTONS ON STALK
You use the righthand buttons on steering wheel as follows

Turn engine on . using the siver buttons around the OK button scroll right and in the top row of the AID you get NAV, AUDIO, TELEPHONE,CAR STATUS, DRIVING DATA, ASSIST SYSTEMS.

When you get on Assists you press the DOWN button to the right of the siilver one and you get a menu which is like this with boxes to check the ones you want EXCEPT FOR ACC and SPEED LIMITER which you have the choice to highlight one or the other

                              Menu is
                              Lane assist
                              Speed adjust.
                              ACC
                              SPEED LIMITER
                              Side assist
                              Rear assist
                              Front assist
                              Back (to top)

If while in there you press VIEW which is below the silver ones you get car data like consumption oil temp and other stuff

So I wont be taking my car back and suggest perhaps you should

Perhaps you are in the wrong thread as my Passat had a button on the end of the stalk which reduced the ACC speed by 1kph increments.

The ACC controls are in fact on the left side of the wheel around the matching silver ones and all settings can be adjusted from there.

Attached are pic of end of both stalks in my car As you can clearly see someone forgot to put buttons on them

Left pic is left one rightpic is right one
