Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Discover pro 2- small nav/media issue

Yesterday my car stopped showing the (CarPlay) media as a small pop up from within the nav interface. It now just says ‘usb’ only. It’s meant to show a small display of the song, with pause/next/precious buttons.

Anyone else had the same problem and know of a solution- that doesn’t involve another full reset(and losing my various vehicle settings)

    Cheers.

CarPlay once froze my discover pro - I just did a restart (holding the power button) and it fixed it right up.

Otherwise, do you have access to an android phone? Maybe if you connect one up, android auto or whatever it’s called will come on and hopefully update the ‘usb’ you’re getting.

Does it make a difference which USB slot you plug in to in the car?
Have you done a reset on the iPhone?

CarPlay still works fine. It’s just the little box within nav that’s gone bung.

Happened for mine and my wife’s iPhones. We’ve had a weekend road trip, so there’s been plenty of time for me to play around and see what’s the cause.

I haven’t restarted the phones yet, but still happened after force-closing the music app on each and unplugging each phone and going from CarPlay to nav and back. Same for car off and restarted a few times.

I haven’t tried a different slot yet. The cable has been in the same slot for months.

What shows up in the ‘pop-up’ on the nav screen is actually configurable. I think you might have accidentally changed the display settings. From memory I think you can configure this pop-up directly from the NAV screen.
