Repco is currently holding a 40% off battery sale, Supercharge Gold batteries are fantastic.
All our daily cars have had them in the past and I always replace the in-law's car battery with Supercharge batteries.

I know there are some purists that don't want ling long dim sum parts on their car, but that's your prerogative.

Thx DPS good to know for y18 sportline .
BTW. I would stay away from any China rebrand battery's sold in Repco or Supercheap as Ozi made( yeh right rebadged with stickers only produced here ) .
Even the best one most expensive noted as ultra High performance with 36 mt. warranty ( they recently reduced to maximum 24m warranty in Repco probably with many warranty claim exchange included done by myself 2x time) are barely to withstand 2 year even in golf 4 where original Bosch Battery Lasted 8 year!
I would recommended Bosh or VARTA but original from places which can be confirmed and with valid manufactures , there is also some other good words about OEM MLLA Made in Germany, however didn't had long term experience only short to measured claimed capacity and was fully as stated even better than on sticker capacity AH.
Even sold at VW dealer Varta is not much more expensive than buying knock off ,running on even mid term will pay off and most importantly will not give you problems.

              OP here.

Got in the car this morning to take back to dealer to have the battery replaced and of course car wouldn't start.

Called VW assist and tech came round to replace under warranty, all done within an hour.

Hopefully the new battery will last 2 years through to the end of my lease!

                Great to hear mate!

And what did they replace it with? Genuine VW or another OEM product?
And did they give you an AGM or just the EFB again?

Which one did you get this time ? Did you get get OEM original Made in Germany and did official VW road assist come or they send near by partner ''Cowboy 3rd part Road Assist ''. with truck on back full load of troublesome Century SCA and some other cheap stuff?
This is what happen to my when my car stoped in traffic light in peak hours in Sydney. And after calling VW road assist and embracing situation stoped in middle of Red light 3x lane blocking traffic and people beeping and laughing on new German car looking stoped in middle .
When I call VW Road assist ( call 5x times in total as something which suppose to be urgent assist 20 min time come to hours of waiting) They let me hanging there for 2,5 hours and lucky nearby NRMA Road Assist come ask if need help and explain they work also for VW was for him very strange why they didn't on Computer System just call him as his area to help in and was waiting around.
AU VW customer and Dealer support and help lately is HORROR ! Most arrogant crooks and cheaters ! Once they sell you car and snap your money Smile and friendly face is gone, anything which is suppose be free warranty service is just trouble if any problem after show which will cost them money to cover from VW pocket.
They always have ready B.S. answers to confront and defend as is always not VW Fault but '' as normal or VW characteristic'' even without testing or listening to you showing them clear black on white. What B.S. New Car Warranty !

A good result, and sounds like an improvement in battery.

Normal lifespan of a modern cranking battery is 4+ years, so it will be interesting to see how your new one lasts.

                          Nice little upgrade there.
You went from an EFB to an AGM Battery!
Also, Delkor (although made in Korea) are owned by Johnson Controls.
Johnson Controls also own Varta Battery Brands | Johnson Controls

I can only assume that as a Non Genuine Battery was installed, a third party must have installed this?

I find it odd if VW Assist was to provide a Non-Genuine Battery...

But hey, all worked out for you in the end!!!

All covered by the warranty? Surely had to be for the car that’s not 3years old yet.
