Please do feel free to correct me- if you see something I’ve said is absolutely wrong. I enjoy learning and improving my understanding of topics. As a previous Mazda employee and vehicle user I am very aware of the systems used (for 2008 to 2018 models)- both advertised and actual. I’m sure you’re aware of the important difference between the two- in many aspects of life.

    Cheers.
Im sorry if I offended you

Firstly diesel wasnt mentioned so I couldnt know that and I do know the difference in systems, owning both types

Secondly I really dont care what others buy but to me if anyone buys a complicated car with expensive parts that should be researched before buying.

Its a bit late afterwards and the comment about the pushbike was not aimed at you directly but about the thread growling about the price and lasting qualities of parts.

Everything wears out eventually and while the cost of consumables is always rising it should be taken into account before buying.

Lucky you having a work car paid for by someone else.

Us poor pensioners have to buy our own LOL

Thanks for the follow up. What should matter most is that everything that a company makes and advertises should be accurate and truthful. Same for government involvement/influence.

Stop/start doesn’t make sense. It’s not cheaper to the end user(fuel vs battery cost vs component wear), and potentially not better for the natural environment either.

Same for dsg gearboxes in urban traffic. Same for dpf in urban driving.

It’s all wank that looks good on paper(again, I don’t believe theyre accurate- borderline blatant lying) but doesn’t translate to the real world.

Maybe replace the CR2025 batteries in your key fobs for a couple of bucks each might sort that out.

I’ve always waited for car batteries to start showing signs of trouble before replacing...
A few hard cold starts, or a slow crank with no obvious cause.... replace it.

Sebang is rubbish! it will go without Se ''Bang'' if you are lucky in less than 1 year If you using Stat stop and playing with car lots while stationary with ignition on. Problem is I noted before for some very strange and unacceptable reason MQB Tiguan with just ignition on with all devices switched off, included Daytime running lights off ,acc fan radio ,so all off ! just ignition on consume whooping 8amp with cars with no Areaiew and if your car has Areaview 2 360 cameras than even consume 9.5amp ! Which means is not just problem Start stop but car BCM and rest system bad design consuming so much electricity like old Vintage Intel Petium CPU ! Add to this ''SeBang'' rubbish Korean battery which from my testing guaranty you that has no capacity claimed on sicker of 680AH and cell inside and built is rubbish unable to hold high load of MQB and just not able to cope hot Ozi climate .
Put pressure on VW Head office and ask for exchange proven genuine made in Germany Varta Battery with EFB+ or buy yourself Varta AGM or AGM+ , and you will see deference how car behave and breath more easy and has no more engine car must be running on dashboard'' .
Owning all my previous cars Audi and VW, this is first time with Tiguan I have received in German Brand car Korean rubbish battery.

This is confirm my claim from before Tiguan poor build and how VW has try to save every cent on Tiguan, so many internal parts are not EU made but China even India, this was never case before.
VAG after Diesel scandal and money lose have some serious saving on car production and bad Customer service support by constantly trying to hide / avoid repairs / replacement as much as possible and using tricks to trick Owners of Just purchased new VAG car with manufactures issues.

                  I Forget to add
Obviously VW Head office and manufacture is very aware about Tiguan high battery electricity consumption with Car stationary with ignition on while engine is off .As I have recently had chance to drive new Tiguan My19 and I noticed they have install attest revision of BCM and Sw. which added some delay Timers in BCM .Which in case you are stationary more than 1min ( roughly ) and engine off , The BCM will automatically display message on dashboard than the car will go auto switch off ignition to prevent battery drain''
. So VW are very well aware about this issue, however because of entire electronic high current consumption with ignition on MQB production design ,they didnt make hardware change whole car system as will cost them money! But they just implement cheapest way SW Timer delay on BCM method, which is still better than nothing If you accidently forget to switch ignition off , however real problem of bad design high current draw with ignition on remain .
The 2016 , 2017 didn't have this auto switch ignition timer ,don't know about 2018 year model.

                    Hi Minesapint

I highly recommend you that you don't test you luck and drive anymore with this rubbish battery!
As that's only beginning of signs that battery Is failing. You can even fully recharge on desktop bench charger and it will show fully charged full voltage ! and it will start your car and just next moment same day it will happen in middle of traffic while on Red Light or even while you driving that car will switch totally OFF! not reacting , except allow you to put warning blinking lights
This is what happen to me , I almost get killed in traffic once road assistance hot jumped and started car on same battery driving back home it switched car while driving , lucky was close to petrol station to drive in . It is intermittent working as bad damaged cell get hot, complete battery just cut off totally and Voltage drop so low that you will be surprise what all dangers situation and problems can you get in.

The car picked up March 2017, the battery made at least September 2016 or even earlier. The battery is probably 3 years old or older and depend how’s used/driven, it hasn’t too bad. If dealer suggested replace the battery, then you should listen and replace the battery. If your car is still under the new car warranty it should be free of charge. No need to get killed when your battery fails, if you’re too worried.

‘Heartache’ is often the catalyst for improvement and innovation in the human world.

We could have sit on our hands at any and all points in our history and never tried to improve things, and just live the crude lifestyles of 10000, 5000, 1000, 500, 200, etc years ago.

If anyone is happy with mediocrity, that’s fine, but it’s not fine to belittle people who want things to be better- unless they are actually harming you and your loved ones in the process.

Just out of curiosity, what brand of batteries do people have in their 2nd gen Tiguans.

I bought mine just after the new model was released here in late 2016, and it’s a 132TSI Comfortline with the Lux package, and it has a BANNER brand ( never heard of it ) cranking battery, made in Austria.

what are you trying to improve? Are you investing in new battery tech research or something?
