Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

That shows it well, pity it does not lower the lights on a T intersection, technology sucks sometimes!I think we need a sticky explaining what each mode is to fix all the confusion because DLA has been used so many times over the years for different things as technology has advanced.

The first I heard of DLA on a Tiguan in Australia was when someone mentioned it on an Allspace they had bought. I am still confused if the European SWB car has the mid type lights and they have been activated. I should call into a dealer and have a look at what headlights are in the SWB car. Some owners think they have activated DLA but doubts have been expressed that this is the case. It has also become mixed in with the Passat discussions on the subject which has added to the confusion at least for me.
Does the Allspace arrive with DLA from the factory or does it have to be coded?
Do the SWB European cars now have the Mid type headlight assemblies? If so is DLA active from the factory or does it have to be coded? If your car SWB has mid LED assemblies when was it sold?

Assuming you have a highline, then from day1. Do you have a comfortline?
Maybe some cars arrived here with the low level led fitted- based on supply during the day of assembly, since we don’t use the dla feature in Aus.
A 25/1/17 test of a highline had the mid level lights. So that car was built in mid-late 2016.
All the cars I find on Carsales and google have the mid level lights (highline)Last edited by Simonr23; 07-04-2019, 07:55 PM.

No, mine is a Highline. I too initially thought that the DLA function could be enabled because all the UK cars had it but then I discovered that there were two headlight assemblies and we were not getting the DLA capable unit. When Kamold got hold of the coding we gave it a go and when it did not work I did some investigation to find mine can't be done.

Do you only have the 2 little single DRL’s in your headlights, rather than the eyebrows and the ‘U’ shaped ones?
What build month is your car?
Edit- after googling and looking at every 2016-2017 tiguan highline for sale on carsales, every car has the mid level lights.
Vw official brochure also says that the highlines get the led lights with active cornering and just halogens for comfort/.
You’ve gotten a car with the wrong headlights fitted, or it’s not a highline (but I think you know what you’re driving!) or when the coding was being attempted, that mistakes could’ve been made?
Can you upload a pic of your car headlights with the headlights off (so only drl are lit)Last edited by Simonr23; 07-04-2019, 09:49 PM.

Mine are definitely the same as the basic LED, no question at all. The brochure now is not the same document as it was in late 2015 when my car was built, I think we can be sure of that. It is no big deal to me except the high beam is a bit less in the basic light hence why I am fitting Cibie Super Oscar LED driving lights because I do a lot of night driving in the bush and being an old fart I don't see as well as you young blokes at night. My car was built in late 2015, sold in January 2016 so a very early car but not the earliest. I wish I could put the Xenons that my Superb had in it, they were miles better than LEDS, way more light and a lot further reach.

I have a MY19 Tig, and it definitely has the Mid, as it has the U shaped daytime running lights (looks pretty nice).
Does not have auto highbeam, nor DLA turned on. Does have cornering lights. Hoping one day I can get a cable to turn on these features.

Hey Ash, when you say cornering lights, do you mean the side LEDs activate to provide a wider angle beam when turning? Or do your main beam headlight actually pivot/turn?
I have a wolfsburg, I have corner LEDs but I don't think my main beams move..

I have both. A light that comes on and lights up the the side I am steering into. And the main beam pivots as I steer, fantastic for roads at night. Except I have to manage my own high beam control.
They seem to go up and down too, as in to get light farther, or nearer. Though not sure if it is my imagination.
