Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

It means that your car is 340days old and will have its first birthday.

      It needs its first service.

If it’s not a year old from production, then it could be wrongly set to flexible service option, which would mean, it needs oil change because of too many short trips.

When I picked up my R-Line (not wolfy but they are pretty much same cars) I asked about run in period and they told me drive it like you stole it, it’s all run in from factory.

Yep, rolled out of the dealer in ours and put it into sports mode and just mashed the pedal to the floor lol.

After the 1st tank of fuel, used the launch control a fair good amount of times lol.

Its not run in. Read the manual (obviously the dealers don't). Run in period is 1500km.

I doubt it would be cost effective for VW to spend the time and fuel to run in at the factory.

We have no oil consumption issues on any vehicle we have treated this way, all three Volkswagens/Skodas. All those who have oil consumption issues (that I have seen) have run them in gently and the rings have never bedded into the bores properly.

I did the same with my brand new BMW and have had zero oil issues

Yeah I don't think it is a big issue on modern engines so it is probably a conservative approach by manufacturers to include it in the manual. However, given they do put it in the manual and have 5 year warranties at stake I am inclined to trust there are still benefits to doing it.
