  • Coolant temperature not registering on AID gauge

My coolant temp gauge is always fixed on 90 even when starting from cold first thing and never changes. Anyone else had this issue?

Mine would show a gradual build up to 90 and the highest it's been was 105/106 so far on a 40oC days. otherwise sitting at 90/95oC when checking through infotainment.

Dial guage would always sit at 90oC mark on the instrument dash

Yeah mine is definitely not working as the oil temp reading changes normally (sits around just over 100 when fully warmed up). Due for 1000km check up service so will get them to fix it then.

Just received my obdeleven today and the coolant temperature guage in that is getting a reading from the sensor. Temp was just over 100 while the aid and infotainment gauges are showing no changes and stuck on 90.

Obdeleven did report a fault but don't know what it means:

Temp gauge is now showing a steady build up to 90 from cold and then just sits on 90 with absolutely no variation when the car is warmed up.

Can someone please verify that the coolant temperature does actually vary from 90 during normal driving when warm on both the gauge in the active info display and the gauge in the discover pro screen?
(don't get the engine temp gauge mixed up as they look similar in the discover pro)

Just watched a few youtube 0-100 videos showing the aid gauges. All of them were sitting on exactly 90 so looks like this might be normal. Please verify.

Seems unlikely the temperature would be maintained this consistently on different cars in different conditions

It never moves no matter what. The electronic thermostat helps with that a lot, way better than the old mechanical ones.

If you climb a decent 100kmh hill, that lasts longer than 20 seconds, on a summers day(30+ degree temp) and look at live data, the coolant temp will be increasing.

My cars, when going up willinga hill all get up to around 98-104(car and ambient temp affect this)

It’s been my go to location to test cooling system health

The cars gauges don’t reflect this, as the manufacturers ‘tune’ the gauges to stay in their normal position until things are really bad. The masses would otherwise misinterpret the normal fluctuations as problems.

Seems pointless for the euro cars to have a temp scale on the gauge, if it’s not going to be used though *sigh*
