  • I don’t like the idea of the brake covers. I think at a glance they would look good. But when you look at big brakes like brembos you tend to look at them cause there so nice to look at. But when you have a good look you will tell there fake and than they just look cheep. That’s my opinion.

I’m installing mesh because my mrs drives a thousand ks a week and she’s had a few rocks hit the air condenser and the fins have allready been bent. So I’m installing the mesh as a buffer from flying rocks. But here’s a few pics of the insides of the wolf.

Yeah on second thought I don’t think the covers might be durable and risk of falling off over time. If you use the glue then u have to remove the covers if replacing the brake pads which is not ideal. Prob stick with painting then!

              Nice work!

I’ve done this on previous cars to keep the bugs out.

I think I’ve even got some left over mesh in the shed.

Are there other alternatives to keep bugs out? I know when driving between Sydney and Canberra, I smash onto loads of em

I’m a panel beater for one of Sydney’s leading prestige smash repairers in western syd. And yeah when I was younger I loved doing modifications lol. Now I just do what I think needs to be done. Like protect the coolers. But I’m more than happy to help any body out or if you have questions. There’s a bit of a process on taking European cars apart. Lots of strong clips holding every thing together.

Yeah there is other alternatives to keeping bugs out. You could use aluminium fly screen. (Does not look the best) but in my opinion bugs don’t bend the fins on the coolers. Rocks definitely do. Bugs eventually break down and you can just wash them out with the hose (be careful to aim the water in line with the coolers never ever squirt on an angle as that will also bend all the fins and damage them. you don’t need much pressure) we have only had the car for one week and here’s a pic of the damage rocks do.

                    • Whilst doing the grill I noticed the air intake has a factory cold air intake. But it’s just been blocked off. Not sure if it’s for newer models that will come with it or not. But any ways I thought while I’m at it I’ll just cut out the factory blocked air intakes and bam. Cold air intake done. This will be perfect with a k&n air filter. And being a turbo it will have a little more response and fuel savings which is a plus. I think vw blocks them off because they make a little bit of noise when under load. But I like the noise of the turbo. So yeah it’s good.
im half way with cutting them out I’ll take more pics when im finished chopping these out so it makes more cense

Car bra. So you can remove it at the end of the trip. But then you end up with rub marks on your paint.

I don't think there's a great solution but fly wire is reasonably good on the outside and most auto shops will sell light weight aluminium mesh which can be installed into the grille if you want to do the disassembly (which is actually not that hard).
