Apparently the dealers have to pay $500 directly to head office for each 5 year warranty. Not surprising then that they’re requesting it as an additional payment if you’ve already agreed on price..
Lol I thought the salesperson was trying to make a quick buck from that $500. Anyway, he added it in my contract saying “5 year warranty at no additional cost”. [emoji4]

The VWA website now lists a 5 year warranty on the Tiguan page without the "for cars ordered and delivered before Deciding 31" caveat.
Cheers, got a link? I looked on the Tiguan page and it gave me the view details blue link which came up with the same term and conditions for sold and delivered.
Does the warranty go hand in hand with 5 years included roadside assist and capped price servicing? All three were sort of presented to me as one thing (though I walked away from that particular dealership based on price of the car)
VW Australia just announced new 3 & 5 year service plans for the entire range. Looks to work out a bit cheaper than the current capped price services...

Noticed this on the weekend. $1304 for 3 year and $2246 for 5 year. Normal prices for these are $1712 and $3234 respectively. Decent saving, especially for the 5 year. Picked up the Wolfsburg today, included the 5 year warranty, so also signed up for the 5 year service plan.
$1,000 saving on the first 5 services, which will be around 3 years by km’s for me, is a pretty good saving actually. Nice.
Did they try on the $500 for the 5 year warranty like others have reported?
No, when I asked about the 5 year warranty, he said he was pretty sure it will be included, but would check with his manager, called back 2 minutes later and said it will come with the 5 years. When I ordered, the Wolfsburg was not on the system, so the contract was redone in October (when it appeared on the system). So technically, the vehicle has been sold and delivered within the required period.
I was talking today to the sales manager, he suspects this is just testing the market and will become permanent from Jan 1.
