  • Tiguan Front Assist in the UK media

The Volkswagen Tiguan that can't handle Cornish roads and brakes automatically prompting crash fears from former traffic cop - Cornwall Live
['A former traffic cop said his new Volkswagen car was not fit for purpose on Cornish roads because it keeps automatically performing emergency braking without warning."]

This happened to me once. Call coming off the Perth kwinana freeway onto the mount road exist. No traffics, no trees or headges, it just applied the brakes.

['Mrs Leath, 57, added: “I won’t drive it. What frightens me is you don’t know when it’s going to activate. I am absolutely petrified of it."']
But sure sure how why the lady doesn't just do this before she drives it
['"The owner's manual explains how Front Assist can be adjusted by the driver to give 'early', 'medium' or 'late' warnings, and how the system can be switched off for a journey, should unnecessary warnings be experienced. ']

Yeap this has happened to me a few times in tight car parks going up the multi level ramps. I’ve learnt to turn off the front assist whilst in these sorts of places.

The owner in question has got a long thread on the UK Tiguan forum and has been battling this since he has had the car. I haven't had the problem but a lot of people have especially in the UK.

I have noticed a number of times (maybe a couple of times a week?) I get the display warning (car with radio waves all round). Only once so far, whilst braking into a corner (rock wall) has it applied the brakes harder than I intended.

To me seems very much like the 'getting used to it basket' as we have now with ABS and then ASC/ASR/TSC systems.

Had a warning today in the Perth hills. Narrow bendy road and a car was coming toward me, in his lane and I was in mine. A warning but no automatic breaking. I decided to turn if off whilst on those roads just in case.
