Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Turbo Downpipe on a 162

Hey all. Keen to know if anyone has fitted a catted turbo downpipe to their Tiguan whilst keeping the factory cat back exhaust? I’m considering fitting one but would prefer to keep the car quiet(er).

I haven’t been able to find any clips of a Tiguan with just the downpipe installed to get an idea so keen to hear or hear your thoughts if you have

There’s a couple of people fitted these along with a stage 2 tune. Don’t expect a whole lot of difference in terms of noise except possibly a deeper/throatier exhaust note coming from the DP section.

What do you think of this cost saving ebay downpipe at $480, will it fit the Tiguan MK2?

This one doesn’t have a high flow catalytic converter which is not legal except possibly on a race track.

This is the reason it’s cheaper.

Generally any after market cat isn't legal, you'll still fail the emissions test (IM240) - just "legal-ish" doesn't smell like a gas chamber and emits less soot/crap out the backside.

Unless you go E85, pass with flying colours haha
