  • Pre Inspection

Hi all I just had a look under my 2017 Tiguan R line to change the oil in between oil changes as I have done on all my VW's and noticed that 2 bolts that support the gearbox to engine bracket were just sitting there loose 😳, so much for pre delivery checks. So just a quick heads up if some of you feel inclined to have a look under and check yourself.

Perfect timing, thanks - I’m in an Uber to the dealership to check out my new Tiguan R Line now!

I like your way of thinking, 15000 kms is way too many kms in my mind before oil and filter change. Do you purchase oil and filter from dealer if not what oil make and grade are you using? Is the dealer ok warranty wise with you doing it yourself?

Hi I get my oil from Spare parts as long as it has the reccomend vw specs 507.00. Thing is I found out VW use a plastic sump and a throw away plug and you need a special tool to remove the plug they make it harder for the average bloke to maintain a basic service on his car. Going to contact dealership spares for price on sump plug tool, I know you can get on ebay but the postage is costley.

Looking at the bolt marks on the black plate, it looks like it was tightened down (see scratch marks) and then someone loosened it.

Perhaps a dodgy dealer trying to create maintenance 'work' for their dealership.
