    Hi All,

Just received my 162TSI and I was wondering if there was anyone located in the ACT who has an OBDeleven who might be keen to give me a hand?

Happy to pay in beer or real money to save having to purchase one just for a couple of tweaks!

    Cheers!
    Nick

    Hi Nick,

I’m in the same situation, though haven’t been actively pursuing it as haven’t had time. Almost at the situation of just buying one and playing TBH. Though would be good to see someone with experience with it to see how much time I’d need to invest. Either way would be interested if someone is around in Canberra.

obdeleven is nice when it works, but right now its giving me the shiits.

WHEN the app detects that it needs to update itself, it stops connecting to any cars.
Effectively, the manufacturer cripples your device.
Definitely NOT good, especially when users may not care about using outdated software (that works).
So, when you're forced to do the update, it fails because Aus is NOT a supported/licenced country.
We're forced to manually download the apk file, and then try to manually launch it on your phone.
Latest Android makes this very difficult (or impossible) because the apk file didn't come from the Play store.
Hoping the sun shines again soon.

It works well on my Note8, updates fast enough without any intervention. I never had to download apk file or anything.

Probably because Samsung has a different attitude to security than Google.
Some say Samsung is more "permissive", others might be more derogatory.
IMHO Samsung prefers convenience over security.

I spent a few hours learning about ADB (Android Debug Bridge) and updated the phone and dongle firmware to latest OBDeleven.
All this effort so I can have seat heater settings retained across restarts.
Very nice in this uber cold weather.

FWIW, my conclusion is the OBDeleven user experience will be greatly affected by the user's choice of phone or android device.
