hahahaha, I was going 40 km/h in heavy traffic, my lane was moving, he's lane was at a standstill, I was next to him when he decided to pull into my lane and the side of the car... No amount of stages could have helped as I had no where to go or even see him turn into me...

You should have optioned Blind Spot Resist, an airbag that deploys on the outside to bounce the other douche off your car and protect the body work.

              • Took the car to Shannons Panel Beater this morning, needs a new drivers side door and rear wheel arch, which has 2 week wait from VW.... Happy to wait if I get new parts then wont be an issue with colour matching if it had to be resprayed.

                  • Small update.

Got the car back from the panel beaters, had to get a second new rear wheel arch as the new one from VW had a scratch on it, different location to accident damage.

Downpipe had alot of rattles and noises on hard acceleration and has been annoying me for some time. Yesterday put the car on a hoist and applied some permatex muffler & tailpipe sealer to the 2 clamps on the downpipe prior to the CAT. Removed clamps, applied 1/2 thick layer of permatex, reattached clamps and put more permatex around clamps. There were a fair few exhaust flares on the downpipe indicating there were small exhaust leaks at the clamps.

I also wrapped the downpipe elbow near the pipe hanger bracket to it was snug to the bracket and could not move incase this was touching. In addition the heat shield near the dump pipe has a bit of play so filled any gaps between heat shield and chassis with silicon.

So far so good, no metal vibration noises, a litle bit of vibration still there at hard acceleration, no where near a bad as before which I think is more due to the thin wall thickness of the CTS Turbo downpipe compared to the stock downpipe or even the APR cast downpipe which would be significantly thicker since its cast... Pipe wall thickness can play a large part in noise, acoustics and vibration...

Thanks to Melbourne_Tiggy for the heads up on the permatex..

                    • Hi INASNT, great thread on all your work so far. Would you still recommend the CTS downpipe with the permaflex applied?

I'm new to all this so trying to learn as much as I can before I start fiddling.
I've made contact with guys from Etuners in Sydney but only around costs so I'd like to be prepared when I start asking them more specific questions.

I had the downpipe refitted as connection to turbo vband was slightly off so no more Permaflex required and no issues anymore.

                        Yes recommend the CTS downpipe.

Only driven a few KM since picking it up.. Feels nice and tight with ACC in normal mode, no bonnet in the air with hard acceleration..

                              • That looks way better. Is that a 30mm drop?
I showed this to the Mrs and her first comment was "well now the front bumper is just going to get scratched up".
Keen to know if this is the case. My R36 was notorious for scraps on the underside of the bumper with it's longer nose, but I'm hopeful this isn't the case with the Tigs, once lowered. I've certainly mastered the art of taking dips and driveways at angles to avoid scuffs, and I've come to enjoy not having to worry about this in the Tig, and so has the Mrs.
