Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • 162TSI Turbo Inlet Hose

Hi guys, looking for some help. After doing just about all the tweaks I can with my OBD11 it is time to move on to some physical modifications.

I am in the process of ordering a CTS High Flow Turbo Inlet Pipe and Turbo Muffler Delete for my 162TSI Tig. While I am installing these and have everything disconnected I was wanting to replace the Turbo Inlet Hose with a silicone one to get rid of the horrible plastic OEM with the corrugated bends.

I had assumed this would be the same as a GTI but then I noticed the part number on the OEM part is slightly different (Tig is 5QA 129 654 while the GTI/A3 is 5Q0 129 654P). I can't find any details on the overall length of the Inlet Hoses so can't tell if they are the same length or not to know if one for a GTI will fit.

Has anyone here already swapped this over? If so did they use one for a Golf GTI or something else?

    Thanks for any help.

Hi, I have changed the turbo inlet and turbo inlet hose. The hose is a GTI part but fits our Tigs, the brand I used was RAMAIR and looks identical to the VW Racing hose. Hope that helps.

Hi Melbourne_Tiggy, did you get a tune to support the intake mods? also do you have any pics of the RAMAIR intake fitted??
I am looking at the RAMAIR intake, Burger Motorsport intake kit and the harding performance kit. Will also be doing the turbo muffler delete at the same time.

      Cheers

        Hi Brett
APR stage 1 tune. I have a BMS drop in filter (removed snow grate), RAM air intake hose (joins air box to turbo inlet pipe), APR inlet pipe and VW Racing turbo muffler delete.

Thanks for that Melbourne_Tiggy, I have ordered an ECS silicone hose which also looked identical to the VWR one so will see how that goes when it turns up. Will let everyone know how it fits and put some photos up when I have done it.

If anyone in NZ is interested I have also ordered an extra CTS Inlet Pipe and Turbo Muffler Delete that I will have for sale when they arrive.
