Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Has anyone fitted weathershields to a new Tiguan?
    What do they look like?
Do you hear any wind noise from them?

    Thanks

Finally took the plunge and went with the genuine VW weathershields on all 4 doors of the Tiguan.
These actually fit into the window channels, not onto the door frame.

The front windows work perfectly with these fitted, but the rear windows can be a bit hit and miss.
(i think this might be due to the speed of the windows), but the dealer also said they have had a lot of problems with these and getting them fitted properly.

The first time i put the rear windows down (4 days after install), the left rear window didn't go back up as it was hitting the weathershield.
I found that the weathershield was actually cracked, so went back to the dealer to get it replaced.

Second time round, again 4 days after reinstall, the left rear window still failed to close properly. This time, the weathershield was not cracked so was able to adjust the spacers in the window channel to see if the window can close. Most of the time the rears now close from full open, but occasionally they don't. You can get around this by closing the window a bit at a time.

A few photos below for reference.

I am undecided if i will keep the rear weathershields fitted, just depends on how much hassle they cause.
There is a bit of wind noise from these at highway speeds.

Thanks for the post mate. Is there much in the way of wind noise from the front weathershields?
