  • Recommendations for air pressure

    Hi folks,

My partner has been nagging about the ride on 132 a bit wobbly and uncomfortable. The dealer pressure was around 39 mark.
Any recommendations, what could be a good air pressure on all 4s, Mrs is due for a bub delivery in coming months, and seems concerned.

Check the recommendations on the Tyre Placard om your vehicle. That should be a good starting point...

Keep them high, otherwise you'll chew the tyres out.

Most reviews that I have read seemed to indicate the new Tiguan has a rather firm suspension setup which results in a busy ride in urban settings - even on 17" wheels. It would seem your experience confirms this.

Models with the optional adaptive chassis control (electronically adjustable dampers) are capable of delivering good ride comfort but is only available on Highline models with the R-Line package for the Australian market.

Perhaps try lowering the tyre inflation pressure to 33 psi all-round, as per below:

For all tyre fitments listed on the placard:

Normal load: front 38 psi, rear 38 psi

**Normal load with "comfort" pressures: front 33 psi, rear 33 psi

Full load: front 38 psi, rear 44 psi

Temporary use spare tyre: 61 psi

          Note:
**Refer to the owner's manual for details. It will likely mention that comfort pressures will result in a higher rolling resistance and hence increased fuel consumption, amongst other things.

          Conversion rate:
          260 kPa / 6.895 = 37.7 psi
          230 kPa / 6.895 = 33.4 psi
