I'd be taking it back to the dealer and getting onto VW customer care. Who knows what other options/features you are missing that you should have.

On the flipside you may have picked up an option or 2 that wasn't intended so best to check that out too before making a massive fuss

The lack of badge on the rear is part of the MY18.5 "upgrade"... so I think it's just the interior panel that has been mixed-up and therefore has no ESC button.

Is your Tiguan MY18 - Oct build as well? My R Line is also missing the button too. What did the VW head office say?

I'm guessing you have received the first of the MY18.5 revision.
It looks like the ESC button has been deleted on the MY18.5 version and missing engine model badges is also a MY18.5 change.

Wow this is getting interesting. To clarify by build was November 2017

So MrMatt14 says the badging is fine, but then homeris is missing the traction control button but has the badges! ARHGGHGHGH

ok so my dealer mentioned 'its impossible to miss the button' so i quickly made that possible by sending him a photo. VW Australia has also been contacted and has my VIN recorded. Just waiting on a reply from either the service team or VW Australia to confirm what is the situation.

homeris, what did you do about the missing TC button?

First Official Update from the dealer.

He advises he looked at the exact same car on the showroom floor, it does not contain 2.0TSI badge and is missing a traction control badge.

I will wait until the technical team from VW Australia also provide their confirmation.

Received photos from the dealer as evidence, where the badge is indeed missing and the traction control button is missing.

                    Hi All,

Just for closure, received a call back from Fady from VW Australia. Confirmed the MY18.5 has removed both the badge and the TCR button. As mentioned this can be done in the infotainment system - go to MENU > VEHICLE > SETTINGS (from memory).

Thank you to all who contributed to this thread, hopefully this can be used as a reference to others who run into this dilemma.

I only got my car last Wed and only noticed the missing button over the weekend. I have not contacted the dealer yet. Are there any other indications of MY18.5? If MY18.5 should not have a badge then why does mine have one? Will contact the dealer today. I may have MY18.4 lol.

I just spoke with the dealer, he checked and confirmed both cars in their show room have no traction control button and both have the 2.0 TSI badge.

The other indications of MY18.5 are the additional usb ports - 1 in front and one in the back

My MY18 has 2 in front and one in back. Does that mean it's now 3 in front and 2 in back?

I read on another forum, MY18.5 has 2 usb ports in the front and 1 in the back, no traction control button a no 2.0 TSI badge on the back right just the 4 motion.

Mine is a MY18.5 and is the same.

                                Hi All,
For those that have the older model with ESC button down near the DSG shifter, can you please confirm for me whether the button/icon lights up on the switch when deactivated?
All the other buttons light up when pressed (eg auto park, stop/start off, 360 view etc), but tonight I notice the ESC button does not light up. I get the warnings/lamps in the AID, but just checking to see if the switch itself should light up when pressed.

I thought it did, but now not so sure.

                                Thanks in advance.
