Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Water at the bottom of front passenger door

    Hi all,

I have a 132 tiguan which is about 3 weeks old. I am unable to understand the reason behind the water that accumulates at the bottom of the front passenger door. There is also a little water at the edge of the left hand bottom of the car. Does any know or has experienced this.

Do you mean inside the door or under it on the sill

My terminology is rather dumb for what this part is referred as. Its right at the bottom of the door. And so far has repeated itself twice, post my last two driving instances.

Of course it will be dirty its below the weather seal and it seems you have been driving on dirty roads and the dirt has splashed up between the door and the sill It looks like mud not water.

If its not on the drivers side you have either driven through puddles or on wet muddy gravel with your left tyres

        Buy some mud flaps

Only needs wet patches somewhere or where some one has hosed. Or maybe the dealer didnt clean that bit and youve just noticed it Clean it and keep an eye on it Personally i wouldnt worry in the slightest unless you clean it and check it every day just in case it has a coolant leak but VERY Unlikely to get it wet there from that

Was the outside of the door in a similar state as well

To be honest I didnt pay much attention to it. However I will keep an eye on it now and see if it is happening again post my next few outings.
Thank you so much for your message hopefully it goes away for now after ive cleaned it thoroughly.
