  • Demolition Derby - Amarok Publicity Stunt

Check out this publicity stunt from the UK where 4 Amaroks bring down a 220 ft chimney. I guess it's a way of VW saying that the 2.0 lt TDI has plenty of towing ability. Hmmmmm!

Id be more impressed if they had have attached the ropes at the bottom to pull them down

i think the second car on the right looks like it has popped a hose.

Yeah, with the amount of leverage they had, just taking the slack out of the rope may have been enough to topple the chimney.

Isn't that just the tow cable trailing behind it?

no, i mean the steam (well looks like) coming out of the grill and between the bonnet/wing (esp to the right of the VW badge)
Not seen a video of this from head on, which is making me think more and more it has popped a hose.

"They were given some help, with the base of the chimney flame-cut to reduce its structural integrity. VW said this was standard procedure for such a "pull-down" demolition job."

Taken from: Volkswagen Amaroks destroy 140 tonne chimney
Which has vid of it, but only seems to show a close up of the 2nd from left car. Adds more to Velly's observation.

little bit more footage, you can see the steam/smoke coming out of the bonnet of the2nd from the right Amarok! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DdDTU1NYWk

              Cheers,

              Jayse.

from that video you can see the one car stall and not restart.
