Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    hi fellow dubbers,
I just saw a question on another thread regarding the Toyota Hilux . I remembered that ive noticed a few times when I was in europe there is a ute that looks EXACTLY like the early 90,s model toyota hilux with VW badging.I forget the name of it but it definately VW.This was not a one time occurance but a saw heaps of them.
Was this car developed with toyota??? I should have taken photos! anyone know anything about this???

The 4WDs were built by Toyota and the 2WDs were built (or maybe CKD) by Volkswagen. The VW made 2WDs were rebadged as Toyotas in Europe.

Spot on. Funnily enough the Taro (or whatever they choose to call it) is apparently returning but this time as a VW design and build and for worldwide distribution........including Oz.

        2008 I believe.
