Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Auto lane change

    Hi everyone,

I just got a 2023 Golf Life and saw this video on youtube. Just wondering if our Golf mk8 have the same feature in Australia?

I would love to try it but can’t quite figure it out on the highway. Too scared to try haha.

    Thanks,

If you don't already have the added option under Assistance Settings > Travel Assist then no. I doubt Volkswagen Australia would be offering this option.

However, because you've got a 2023 model you may be able to enable it via coding.

You car will need the following:
    1. Lane Keeping Assist
    2. Travel Assist
    3. ACC
    4. Park steering assistant - Control unit 76 5WD919298 5WA919298 or 5R3919298 (12 sensors)
    5. Control unit A5 (front camera) at least 5WA980653D software version 3400

If your car meets the pre-requisites above then the instructions for enabling it with OBDeleven (at your own risk) are:
    1. Control unit 09 - Adaptations
    - BCM driver assistance turn signal functions:
    - Travel_Assist_Blinken: Active

    2. Control Unit 44 – Long Coding
    - Qfk_ma_function: Active

    3. Control unit A5 – Long Coding
    - HC_Variante: Variante_3
    - HC_mob_line: Coded

This option doesn't appear to be restricted by SWAP or FEC. But you do have to have the latest hardware introduced from around mid-2022.
